Coating Victorville's Concrete, One Era at a Time

Victorville is our home city, and epoxy flooring here means working on concrete from very different decades. The city had 14,220 residents in 1980 and 134,810 in 2020, and the Census Bureau's 2025 estimate is 141,395. A garage in Old Town, a slab in a 1990s tract and a new distribution building near the old air base each need their own plan. We start every Victorville job by working out which kind of floor we are standing on.

How fast the city filled in

Wikipedia's census table shows how quickly Victorville's housing went up:

  • 1980: 14,220 residents
  • 1990: 40,674
  • 2000: 64,029
  • 2010: 115,903
  • 2020: 134,810

The city nearly tripled in the 1980s and almost doubled again in the 2000s. Floors poured in a boom were often finished quickly. We see slabs with uneven trowel marks, thin spots along the edges and control joints that were cut late and spalled. Those details do not show under a car, but they show through a glossy coating. Grinding flattens the high spots, and we fill the joints and chips before any resin goes down.

Old Town and the Route 66 blocks

U.S. 66 runs through Victorville along D Street and Seventh Street, and it is still the main street through Old Town. The city began a revitalization project across ten square blocks of Historic Route 66 in 1995. Older homes and shop buildings near Old Town tend to have more patched concrete and more layers on the floor. We find paint, mastic from old flooring, and sealers put down years ago. Each layer has to come off before a coating can bond. When we quote an older Victorville floor, we list the removal work as its own line so you can see what it costs.

Owners, renters and the landlord floor

The 2020 census counted 38,928 housing units in Victorville. Of the occupied ones, 57.5% were owner-occupied and 42.5% were rented. That is a lot of rental housing, and landlords call us for practical reasons. A coated garage floor wipes clean between tenants, hides wear, and does not hold oil stains the way bare concrete does. For rentals we usually suggest a full flake floor in a mid-tone color. It shows less dirt and costs less to keep looking clean.

Owner-occupants ask for a wider range. Census QuickFacts puts Victorville's average household at 3.49 people, so a lot of garages here work as a gym, a play area, a laundry room or a place to store a second fridge. For those floors we talk through grip, color and how much sun comes through the door before we pick a system.

Warehouses and shops near the former air base

George Air Force Base closed in 1992. Part of it became the Southern California Logistics Airport, which covers about 2,300 acres, and the business complex around it is described as 5,000 acres. The neighboring Southern California Logistics Center offers warehouse space from 2,000 square feet to more than 1,000,000 square feet. In the city's 2009 annual financial report, the logistics airport was Victorville's largest employer, with 2,073 workers.

Floors in that part of town see forklifts, pallet jacks, racking loads and spilled fluids. For those we install thicker 100% solids epoxy systems, with striped walkways and anti-slip texture where people and equipment share space. Smaller shops, fleet bays and service businesses around the city get the same prep, sized for their space. We work around your schedule, which sometimes means coating one section at a time.

Weather extremes on the record books

Victorville's all-time record high is 116 degrees and its record low is minus 1. Rain averages 6.27 inches a year over about 28 days, and snow averages 1.4 inches. Long dry stretches mean most jobs here are not held up by rain. The bigger issues are surface heat in summer, cold slabs on winter mornings and dust when the wind picks up. We check slab temperature before mixing, watch the forecast for wind, and keep doors closed while coats are wet when the air is dusty.

Matching the service to the Victorville floor

  • Garage Floor Epoxy: the standard system for tract-home garages, with grinding, crack repair and a clear topcoat
  • Epoxy Flake Floors: our usual pick for rentals and busy family garages because the chips hide dust
  • Polyaspartic Floor Coating: a UV-stable choice for garages that stay open in the afternoon sun
  • Metallic Epoxy Floors: poured finishes for converted garages, game rooms and small retail spaces
  • Patio & Pool Deck Coatings: light-colored, textured coatings for backyard concrete that sits in full sun
  • Commercial & Warehouse Floor Epoxy: heavy-build systems for distribution, fleet and shop floors near the logistics airport

Patios behind the tract homes

Most Victorville homes have a poured patio slab out back, and many of those slabs have never been sealed. Desert sun bleaches them, and the fine dust settles into the surface. A light-colored exterior coating with a UV-stable topcoat makes the patio easier to hose off and cooler to walk on than a dark finish. We add texture so it stays safe when the sprinklers or a pool splash wet it.

What a Victorville estimate looks like

We come to the property, measure the floor and check it for moisture, cracks, old coatings and oil. Then you get a written quote that names the system, lists each coat and each prep step, and gives the price. If the floor has a problem a coating will not fix, we tell you at the estimate. Victorville Questions

Can you coat a rental property garage in Victorville between tenants?

Yes. Most two-car garages take one to two days of work plus cure time, depending on the system and the weather. We can plan the job for the gap between move-out and move-in and tell you up front when the floor will be ready to park on.

Do you coat commercial and warehouse floors near the logistics airport?

Yes. We coat warehouse, fleet and shop floors across Victorville. Those jobs use thicker epoxy systems built for forklifts and pallet jacks, and we can work in sections so part of the building stays in use.

My older Victorville home has paint on the garage floor. Can you coat over it?

We remove it first. Paint, old sealers and flooring adhesive keep a new coating from bonding to the concrete. We grind those layers off and list that removal in your written quote.
